In duck hunting, the true measure of success doesn’t come from how many birds you come home with. The times shared with family and friends are what hunters should put importance on. Regardless of the weather, seeing your dog make a long retrieve of the only duck you shot or your girlfriend shoot her first mallard are the priceless moments that we live for.
Much of the country has been locked in above normal temperatures for much of October and early November 2015. The waterfowl migration has been delayed and many hunters have been stuck hunting stale ducks and calendar pushes as they all wait for more winter like weather to arrive. Keying in on subtle weather changes that can get birds active is the key and that’s what the Hard Core Waterfowl TV crew did in Northern Illinois at Willow Creek Farms in early November. A good mix bag of ducks was the end result!
